- Hi there,
I'm an easy-going guy who tends to joke a lot. I'm now in my forties, but am much younger at heart. While I'm not deliberately looking for a significantly younger woman, I'm not opposed to it. However, to me, it's far more important that a woman be young at heart, despite her actual age....just like me. Now, I'm a big guy and I won't win any Mr. Universe contests, but I have a nice face and for some reason, women really love my hair and my smile.
I kinda like geeky stuff but don't consider myself too much of a nerd. You can typically find me playing computer games, reading, watching TV, and doing other couch potato stuff. I also like spending time with family at home or out and about.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, when you didn't find me in the kitchen cooking up a meal fit for a king, I liked going out for Mexican, Italian, Chinese, and Hawaiian. Of course, sometimes you just want a good steak or maybe something down-home, but I usually enjoy ethnic dining out. At home, I'm also a mean griller, and can impress just about anybody with a grilled ribeye, some bbq chicken, or a near-gourmet hamburger with toasted buns and all the works.
I'm pretty handy and I've remodeled most of my home in recent years, doing woodwork, repairing walls, redoing ceilings, installing electrical and plumbing fixtures....well, pretty much everything but the flooring. And I want to take the time to learn that too, someday. Sometimes, I like to build things, too, both inside and out, from an entertainment center for my niece's birthday, years ago, to new shelves in my storage building, to a small fence last year, to accent the front displays of my home.
I often like to do improvements in the yard. Though I'm not that much into horticulture, I've learned a lot about it over the years....integrating nature with my landscaping projects and creating a garden park-like atmosphere. And I can tell the difference between a perennial flower and an annual....when to trim a tree and how to fall one....how to install a trellis and make a climbing rose turn into a natural arch....how to build a water feature and integrate the natural beauty with the artificial, blending manma
And I also like to get out when I can, seeing either the countryside or the city life. While I wish I could take more vacations, I am happy even if I can just get out into nature once in a while, taking in a majestic view or just spending time with family.
I'm a quick thinker, coming up with solutions to problems often before those problem even become apparent to others.
I'm great in a crisis....level-headed and able to make quick decisions with experience and an instinct to know just what to do when time is of the essence.
And I do like spending time with my family, eating out, going to movies, going shopping, looking at nature....pretty standard stuff I suppose. I'm not the best socialite and not very good at meeting new people, but I'm willing to try. While I'm not very much into group settings, I am very engaging in one-on-one conversations.
I think of myself as a nice guy. I've been a born-again believer most of my life. I went to a Christian school as a kid and Christian college as part of my education. I recently graduated from a tech college and was immediately employed by Intel upon finishing. I am currently working on contract for Intel in the Beaverton area and live in a motel there during the week.
On the weekends, I live in Hood River with my Mom. We get along well, you might be tempted to call me a mamma's boy...well, you'd probably be right. But who says that's a bad thing? I learned from her and my dad (now deceased) how to respect a lady and I've also developed a great appreciation for family. I've lived with my mom since before my dad passed away and have been reluctant to leave her alone (though she'd actually like me to kinda move on with my life:rolleyes:).
Anyway, I believe that a man should always put his wife and children first. As a Christian man, for me, its God first, then the above. As a single guy, since I've not had much in the way of family, I tend to put video games ahead of a lot of stuff. But lets face it, Call of Duty gets trumped by love any day.
Yeah, I'm seeking love, but while that's my preferred goal, I believe in the traditional approach with introductions first, then friendship, then dating, then marriage, and THEN consummation. Yes, I've long been committed to preserving myself for marriage (if you know what I mean). Sorry, but out-of-wedlock relations are not for me and if you are seeking a fling, you need to look in another direction.
I am celibate by choice, so if you are actually seeking a virgin, well, I guess I'm a rare catch. But as far as I'm concerned, I consider myself a rare catch not because of that, but because of the way I want to make a life-long friend and mate. I take seriously the whole relationship thing, but have not had much opportunity to put that to a commitment. But who knows? Maybe I'll meet the 'one' through this service.

A few more things. I like to cook and am pretty good at it. I like all things Christmas. I'm not into watching sports, but like with a lot of other things, I will watch them if it contributes to building a relationship. I like the symphony but haven't been to one in years. I'm adventurous when it comes to trying new things, but I've got my limits. Oh yeah, I like most types of food but hate oysters. Favorite ethnic foods: Chinese, Mexican, Hawaiian, and Italian...well that's most of the common ones, anyway.

- If I were to take a woman on a first date, I think I'd just do the standard dinner and movie thing. I think that the dinner gives a chance to introduce oneself in an interview-kind of way and it also gives a glimpse into another person's behavior. Are they a slob? Do they use manners? Are they courtious and respectful to the wait staff?
Does the guy act as a gentleman and open doors, pull out chairs, etc? Does the girl laugh at his jokes when he's funny or all the time with some kind of pretense? Does he brag about himself or genuinely talk about himself while deferring to her enough to actually learn something about his date? That sort of stuff.
I think I would be an awesome first date, but I'll leave that for you to decide. But if we do date, I always pay, and I'm willing to go out of my way to make it a nice time even if nothing ever comes of it.
I like McDonalds, but I'd take you to Stanfords or some other decent quality place. I'm a burger connoisseur, but I've eaten in some very nice establishments and I know what's 'good'.
As far as movies go, the selection can also tell a lot about a person, but so too the willingness to see something that might not be on your must-see list. I'm an Adventure, Sci-Fi, Comedy, and Action fan. But I also like romantic comedies and can tolerate a decent chick flick once in a while (I've got my limits though:goofball:).
